ABOUT ME

MAG. HELGA FÜLÖP

Being born and bred in the picturesque region of southern Burgenland, I first came into contact with tourism while still at school.
My passion for French, English and the various German dialects developed during the years I spent working in Salzburg, Tyrol, Styria, the canton Wallis (CH), in London and in Paris.
I have been working, learning and living in Vienna since 1997 and have to admit that I never cease to be amazed by the impressive variety of sights and leisure opportunities the city has to offer.
CERTIFIED TOUR GUIDE SINCE 1999
HISTORY DEGREE SINCE 2003
My decision to become a tour guide was prompted by the two-year guide training course at WIFI Vienna, and by my earlier decision to read history at the University of Vienna, where I specialised in Austrian and contemporary history.
During the research for my thesis (Schönbrunn Zoo. Destruction during World War II and the Early Struggle to Survive), I studied the situation in Vienna during World War II and the difficulties facing the city during the Allied occupation in great depth.
In fact, guided tours on these topics are still one of my passions. I am also the mother of two beautiful children, a girl born in 2003 and a boy born in 2006, who have added a completely new and wonderful dimension to my life.
